Silver Breaks Her Maiden
May 12, 2012
On May 12, our sophomore filly Grabthesilverngo scored her first victory by nearly eight lengths in a $34,000 maiden special weight race against open company at Penn National. She raced in the three path the entire mile and was content to sit 10 lengths off the pace down the backside. One she was asked to pick it up on the far turn, Silver found a new gear, passing the front-runners with ease. Down the lane she drew off by open lengths and we’re looking forward to her next start against winners.
Majestic Hope Wins Going Away
March 16, 2012
On March 16, in just his second start for Chalk Racing, Majestic Hope won a $30,000 claiming race in New York. Leading jockey Ramon Dominguez rated our gutsy gelding, stalking the pacesetters throughout the race. When asked, Majestic Hope pulled away down the stretch and drew off to win by nearly two lengths. He has finished first and third in his first two starts for us.
Impressive Debut for Silver
February 18, 2012
On February 18, Grabthesilverngo made her first lifetime start for Chalk Racing, closing smartly to get second in an open-company, maiden race in Philadelphia. Silver broke last from the gate, was wide throughout the race, and the early fractions were moderate. Despite those obstacles, our girl was all heart and closed like a freight train down the stretch. Silver was only beaten by a neck.
Winery Breaks Her Maiden
February 16, 2012
On February 16, our filly Winery broke her maiden in a race at Gulfstream Park where she was trying dirt for the first time. Winery got off to a slow start and broke last with the disadvantage of the rail draw for the 7-furlong sprint. But she finally got her big stride in gear, took to the dirt surface, and won going away. She didn’t disappoint the public either, as the even-money favorite in the maiden claiming event.
Hudson Landing Runs Big
January 27, 2012
On January 27, our tough gelding came off a three-month layoff in a $40,000 race at Santa Anita, and didn’t disappoint. Hudson Landing stalked the leaders 3 and 4-wide during the early stages of this eight-panel race. When he approached the top of the stretch our boy was forced 6-wide, and despite covering all that extra ground, Hudson Landing still rallied for a determined second.
Wild Rose Rallies for Second
December 17, 2011
On December 17, Wild Rose finished a hard trying second in a 1 1/8 mile race on the Hollywood Park grass. She broke last in a field of seven horses, relaxed until called upon, and closing down the stretch to miss by less than a length. If not for traffic trouble in the far turn, she would have had a big chance for the win.
Saucy Jade Scores in the Slop
November 17, 2011
Saucy Jade pulled away from the pack over a sloppy stretch run to score a convincing, six length victory at the big A in the big apple. She went off as the 5-2 chalk against a scratch-shortened field and delivered a powerful performance in the muck. Sitting third off the lead at the half mile mark, she stayed close to the lead turning for home and drew off down the lane under a confident hand ride by jockey Cornelio Velasquez.
Saucy Jade Second Off Claim
October 10, 2011
On Columbus Day, our 3-year-old filly Saucy Jade closed smartly to finish second on Belmont Park's inner turf course. It was her first start for Chalk Racing and she didn’t disappoint us. Sent off as the 2-1 post-time favorite, our girl was shuffled back to ninth place in the backstretch. But when daylight appeared, Saucy Jade came sailing home to get second. We’re looking forward to her next start.
California Expansion with Wild Rose Claim
September 1, 2011
On September 1, Wild Rose joined our California roster when we won a 5-way shake to get her. A four- year-old filly, she thrives on the synthetic courses as she’s been in the money in eight of eleven starts, including five wins. This Great Britain import has finished no worse then fourth in the U.S. and she's bred to run all day. We think she has a rosy future ahead of her. Bob Hess will train Wild Rose for us along with stablemate Hudson Landing.

August 27, 2011
On August 27, we claimed four-year-old Hudson Landing at Del Mar racetrack. Hudson Landing was an easy winner that day, and we won a 7-way shake to get him. This tough gelding has already won over $225,000 in his career, and he's been on our Chalk Charts since 2009 when he was racing on the NY circuit. He's had success on every type of surface and sports a record of seven wins out of twenty-two lifetime starts. Bob Hess is training Hudson Landing.
