Tar Beach Wins Going Away
February 14, 2011
On February 14, it was a bittersweet victory for our little horse with a big heart on Valentine's Day. Sent off as the chalk in a ten horse field, Tar Beach won going away. He rated well just behind the pace and drew off in the stretch to score by 3 ¾ lengths. Unfortunately, the horse was claimed away from us. Tar Beach was our first winner at Saratoga, and we wish him nothing but safe trips in the future.
Rock America Goes Wire-to-Wire
December 17, 2010
On December 17, Rock America wired a full field of nine horses at the "Big A" in his first start on the dirt. Our boy broke alertly under jockey Eurico Da Silva, who took him right to the front and rated him perfectly while saving ground. The favorite stalked us down the backstretch and into the top of the lane, but Rock America was able to shake him off and went on to score by a confident length.
Star of New York Joins Chalk Roster
November 24, 2010
On November 24th we claimed Star of New York, a four-year-old, NY bred colt with proven ability. He's earned over $220,000 in his young career, finishing in-the-money in over 70% of his 24 lifetime starts while consistently posting Beyers in the mid-80's. He ranked #1 on our Chalk Charts for all claimers up to $62,500, and posted an 86 Beyer running a game second in the race when we won a three-way shake for him. With the arrival of VLT’s this spring at Aqueduct, this Star should shine bright in 2011!
Rock America Rolls Home at Belmont
October 28, 2010
In October, our three-year-old Rock Hard Ten colt broke his maiden handily for jockey-trainer combo Ramon Dominguez and Linda Rice, going off as the 3-5 chalk in a nine furlong race at Belmont Park. Dominguez had a hammerlock on our colt throughout the race, and Rock America rolled home down the stretch under a confident hand ride in 1:52 flat. He beat a full field of ten horses with plenty of gas left in the tank. Rock on!
Lime Rickey Claimed by Chalk Racing
October 21, 2010
In October, we claimed a four-year-old Lemon Drop Kid gelding named Lime Rickey. A turf horse that’s bred for distance, he's been consistently posting Beyers in the mid- to high-80’s. His lifetime winnings already exceed $300,000 and he's competed in several Grade 2 races at top tier tracks. Bruce Brown will train him for Chalk Racing. Often times the best years for turf horses are when they are ages 5-7 and if that’s the case for Lime Rickey – we’ll drink to that!
Rock Runner Claimed at Saratoga

On August 8, we claimed a Rock Hard Ten runner named Rock America. The three-year-old colt is out of a Meadowlake mare and is bred for distance. In each of his first five races, he’s consistently posted Beyers in the 70’s and he ranked #1 in our proprietary Chalk Charts for distance turf horses when we dropped the claim. The colt is being trained by Linda Rice who sports a 50% in-the-money finish record with turf routers. Contact us if you’re interested in learning more.

Mother Nature washed the 4th race off the turf on Saratoga's opening day, and Tar Beach was ready for the call. Entered as a Main Track Only (MTO) horse and sent off as the chalk at 5/2, our boy outran a field of nine horses at the Spa in the slop. Ridden by leading NY jockey Rajiv Maragh, it was the second race back for Tar Beach since we reclaimed him. On July 4, he finished a game second at Belmont in a $50,000 allowance race.
